The African Democratic Congress has announced plans to hold its National Convention as part of efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the acting Chairman of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Kingsley Ogga.
According to the statement, the convention is expected to bring together party stakeholders, delegates, state executives, youth leaders, women groups and political observers from across the country.
The party said the gathering would provide a strategic platform to strengthen its internal democratic structures, review its political direction and consolidate preparations for the 2027 elections.
The statement added that the convention would feature the inauguration and ratification of members of the party’s National Working Committee, deliberations on the conduct of party primaries and discussions on expanding the party’s structures nationwide.
It further stated that consultations would also be held on strategies for effective grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
According to the ADC, the convention will also focus on issues of national development, youth participation, women inclusion, party reforms and the role of the party in deepening democratic governance in Nigeria.
“The gathering represents a significant step towards building a stronger and more united political platform capable of providing credible leadership and alternative governance for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections,” the statement noted.
The party invited members of the public, civil society organisations, party faithful and the media to participate in the convention.
