2027: “Atiku, Peter Obi will come for my head if Tinubu loses” — Wike expresses fear

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has explained why he is determined to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.

Wike said he believes he would be among the first politicians targeted if Tinubu loses the election to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi.

Wike speaks on political risk

The minister made the remarks during a media chat in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, while discussing his continued support for Tinubu.

Wike said his open backing of the President has made him a major target for opposition politicians.

“I will be the first politician that I think they will come after. I will be the first politician. I know they will come for my head,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor said he was fully aware of the political risks associated with his decision to support Tinubu.

However, he insisted that he would not be intimidated by criticism or opposition from those working against the President’s re-election.

Wike said Tinubu’s victory remains his primary political focus, regardless of the personal consequences he may face.

Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s reelection. When I am eating, I think about the president’s reelection. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s reelection,” he stated.

“I am not bothered”

Wike also dismissed criticisms over his relationship with Tinubu and his decision to support the President.

He said he had been subjected to intense criticism and name-calling because of his political position.

“I don’t see where anybody in this country today has been called names the way my name has been. I am not bothered about people who say their [own] thing. My business is, like I said, I am going to support Mr President,” he declared.

The minister maintained that he had no regrets about his political stance and would continue to work towards Tinubu’s victory in 2027.
