Crisis is brewing in the Oyo State chapter of Accord as two persons are currently laying claim to the gubernatorial ticket of the party ahead of 2027 general election.
DAILY POST reports that two aspirants, Mr Olakunle Busari and Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, are currently parading themselves as governorship candidates of the party.
DAILY POST gathered on Tuesday that the duo emerged from parallel primary elections of the party in the state.
Busari is claiming that he emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in a primary election monitored by National Secretary of the party, Mrs Adebukola Ajaja, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, led by Engineer Olugbenga Keshinro, Prince Adewale Adeyemo, Mr. Olaide Mobolade, and other stakeholders.
The returning officer of the election that produced Busari, Olayinka Dairo, announced that he (Busari) secured 29,427 votes to clinch the party’s ticket, defeating two other aspirants in the contest.
Dairo said Hamzat scored a total of 18,716 votes while Fatai Owoseni polled 11,922 votes.
DAILY POST however gathered that Hamzat was also declared the winner of another primary election.
Hamzat said a certificate of return has been presented to him as the winner of the election that produced him.
As at the time of filing this report, the two individuals are currently laying claim to the gubernatorial ticket of the party in Oyo State.
