Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described the 2027 general election as likely to be easier for President Bola Tinubu than the 2023 presidential contest.
Wike made the assessment while speaking on the political landscape ahead of the next general election.
He said the opposition had been weakened significantly, leaving the President in a stronger position ahead of 2027.
“2027 elections will be the easiest one for the President compared to 2023,” Wike said.
The minister added: “This time around, opposition has been crippled, homeless, no feather.”
Wike’s comments come amid ongoing political realignments and preparations by political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The minister, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has maintained his support for the Tinubu administration despite remaining a member of the opposition party.
His latest remarks are expected to generate further debate within opposition ranks over the state of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
