The gubernatorial candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Kano 2027 governorship election, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has unveiled Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, son of the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, as his running mate.

The Spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr. Habibu Saleh Mohammed, hinted this on Monday.

Mustapha resigned his position as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, following political squabbles between his father and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

While Governor Yusuf left the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC), on which platform he is currently seeking for a second term, Mustapha left Governor Yusuf’s cabinet and followed his father, who is now the running mate to the NDC presidential candidate, Chief Peter Obi.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement Spokesperson in a brief Statement said: “His Excellency, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, unveiled Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Musa kwankwaso as running mate for 2027 governorship election.”

According to the statement, Gwarzo formally presented Mustapha as the party’s deputy governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 Kano State governorship election.

Mustapha had said his decision to resign from Governor Yusuf’s cabinet was taken with a “heavy heart.”
