A video showing some Nigerian youths urging parents not to accept N5,000 or bags of rice from politicians in exchange for their votes in the 2027 elections has gone viral on social media.
In the video, a young woman was seen kneeling as she pleaded with a group of parents who stood and watched the youths.
Other youths participating in the awareness campaign were seen explaining to the gathering why voters should reject money, food items or other gifts offered by politicians in exchange for their votes.
Youths campaign against vote buying
The youths, who held placards during the demonstration, strongly kicked against the practice of accepting N5,000 and rice from politicians, arguing that voters should not trade their votes for temporary benefits.
They urged parents to consider the long-term impact of their choices at the ballot box rather than accepting items from politicians who may not return to their communities until another election cycle.
The video has since generated reactions online, with social media users sharing different opinions about the campaign and the issue of vote buying in Nigeria.
