Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have declared their willpower to confront the ruling All Progressives Congress and the newly fashioned opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress within the build-up to the 2027 elections.
Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, spoke on behalf of the PDP Governors on the celebration’s one hundred and first National Executive Committee assembly held in Abuja on Thursday, July 24.
He emphasised the celebration’s readiness to contest and defeat the APC in 2027, whereas including that no different political formation may lead any opposition realignment higher than the PDP.
“Now, with the required recognition by the regulator, INEC, on the finish of the day, we’ll give the APC political competitors a run for his or her cash by way of contest that might be given on a stage taking part in discipline, with a celebration that’s intact, and likewise give solutions to our individuals wishing to come back in.
“In terms of whatever permutation or conjecture we call it whether it is coalition, whether it is alliance it is the PDP that should be able to drive it, because it is the main opposition party,” he stated.

Mohammed acknowledged that some celebration members had defected to both the ADC-led coalition or the APC, together with high-profile figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, and former presidential aspirant Dele Momodu.
He, nevertheless, maintained that the PDP would stay sturdy and open its doorways to returnees, although not indefinitely.
“This is a long way we have traveled. This is how PDP is known, a party with a history, with a logo that has not changed over the years, the party that has shown resilience, and we have the governors solidly behind all the organs of the party,” he stated.
He continued, “We don’t have to make a lot of noise. We are working behind the scene, behind the NWC, behind the BoT, the caucuses of the National Assembly and the six chapters to ensure that we remain intact and provide a credible platform for Nigerians to actualize their aspirations.”
As a closing notice, he prolonged a hand of reconciliation to those that left the celebration, saying, “This shouldn’t be time for calling names. This shouldn’t be time for abusers.
“We sympathise for those who became impatient and left but certainly they will understand and we would still leave the door ajar for them to come in when they wish to, within a time limit.”
