Mustapha Sule Lamido, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has joined the Jigawa governorship race in the 2027 election.

Lamido, the son of the PDP bigwig and former governor of the state, Sule Lamido, made the declaration while presenting his nomination form to the party, on Tuesday in Dutse.

He was also the PDP gubernatorial flagbearer in the 2023 election.

Lamido said that he was vying for the governorship after wide consultations with stakeholders of the party in the state.

He said that he believed in the party’s philosophy, strength, and resilience to tackle its internal challenges as well as address problems bedeviling Nigeria.

“We have confidence in our party, and we believe the people of Jigawa and Nigerian believe in it as well. No other party has ever brought projects and programmes that improved the lives of Nigerians like the PDP,” he said.

He blamed the APC-led government for failure to bring positive programmes for sustainable social and economic development in the country.

While calling for the support of the members of the party, Lamido promised to promote the party’s philosophy anchored around patriotism and service to humanity.
