The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Daura, Sandamu and Mai’Adua Federal Constituency, Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, has promised to run a grassroots-focused campaign ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Buhari, who formally declared his campaign open, said his approach would prioritise direct engagement with constituents and understanding the challenges confronting communities across the federal constituency.
He said he would embark on consultations with traditional and community leaders, women, youths, farmers, traders, professionals and other stakeholders as part of efforts to develop a representation agenda based on the needs of the people.
“This campaign, for me, is not merely about seeking votes. It is about meeting our people, listening to their concerns, understanding their aspirations and presenting a clear vision for effective and responsive representation,” he said.
The APC candidate also made peaceful campaigning a central part of his declaration, urging his supporters to avoid violence, intimidation, hate speech, harassment and destruction of property.
According to him, political differences should not destroy relationships among residents of the constituency.
“We can disagree politically without becoming enemies. We can support different candidates without losing respect for one another. At the end of every election, we will still remain neighbours, friends, brothers and sisters,” he said.
Buhari called on his supporters to conduct themselves with maturity and allow voters to freely choose their preferred candidates.
He described the campaign as a collective project rather than a personal ambition, saying the ultimate objective was to improve opportunities and prospects for residents of Daura, Sandamu and Mai’Adua.
He appealed to constituents for their prayers, support and trust as the 2027 election approaches.
Buhari, who said he was honoured by the APC’s decision to field him as its candidate, described the mandate as a “call to service” and pledged to contribute to the development of the constituency if elected.
