Iran has put forward a fresh 14-point peace proposal to the United States through Pakistan, responding to a nine-point framework earlier suggested by the administration of Donald Trump to end the conflict in West Asia.
Key demands in Iran’s proposal
According to Iranian media reports, the proposal includes several major demands. Iran has called on the US to halt military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon. It has also asked for the removal of the naval blockade and a complete withdrawal of US forces from the region.
Another key demand is the creation of a new governing framework for the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global route that carries nearly 20% of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The proposal further includes lifting economic sanctions on Iran, releasing its frozen assets and providing compensation.

Ceasefire disagreement
Iran has pushed back against Washington’s proposal for a two-month ceasefire, instead suggesting a shorter 30-day timeline to resolve all major issues.
Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, said the next step depends entirely on the US. He made it clear that Tehran is prepared for both diplomatic negotiations and continued conflict.
‘Now the ball is in the United States’ court to choose the path of diplomacy or the continuation of a confrontational approach,’ Gharibabadi told diplomats in Tehran, as reported by state broadcaster IRIB.

‘Iran, with the aim of securing its national interests and security, is prepared for both paths,’ he added.
US response and Trump’s remarks
President Donald Trump said he is currently reviewing Iran’s proposal while also indicating that military options remain on the table.
‘We are doing very well with regard to Iran. They want to make a deal… They are having a hard time figuring out who their leader is… I’m looking at it… They told me about the concept of the deal. They’re going to give me the exact wording now,’ he said.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed doubts about the proposal.

‘I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can’t imagine that it would be “acceptable” in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years,’ he wrote.
Ongoing violence in the region
While both sides review the proposal, tensions on the ground remain high. Israel continues its military strikes in Lebanon. Recent attacks in the town of Sammaiyeh reportedly killed three people.
These strikes have persisted despite a fragile ceasefire reached on April 17 in the Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
