The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned what it described as an assassination try on its Anambra governorship candidate, Chief Jude Ezenwafor, who was reportedly ambushed and shot at by gunmen in Abuja.
In a press release launched on Sunday, July 20, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP expressed outrage over the assault, which it believes was politically motivated.
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns in the strongest terms the attempt on the life of its candidate in the November 8, 2025 Governorship election in Anambra State, Chief Jude Ezenwafor by gunmen who reportedly ambushed and opened fire on him in Abuja while he was returning from an appointment,” the social gathering stated.
The PDP accused sure unnamed political pursuits of orchestrating the assault to cease Ezenwafor’s rising recognition forward of the polls.

Condemning the rising insecurity within the nation, the PDP blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what it referred to as an “overtly insensitive, corrupt and abysmally rudderless” administration.
“This attack on the PDP candidate is another sad commentary on the alarming level of insecurity in the country under the overtly insensitive, corrupt and abysmally rudderless All Progressives Congress (APC) administration,” the social gathering stated.
The PDP urged the Inspector General of Police to swiftly examine the incident, arrest the perpetrators, and guarantee tighter safety round Ezenwafor.
“Our Party charges the Inspector General of Police to immediately apprehend the assailants and their sponsors while also beefing up security around the PDP candidate ahead of the election.”
