The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has raised alarms over what it describes as an absence of transparency within the administration of native authorities funds by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
Talking throughout a strategic assembly with celebration stakeholders on Saturday, PDP State Chairman, Hon. Bello Aliyu Goronyo, voiced concern over what he termed persistent {financial} difficulties confronting a number of native councils within the state.
The assembly, held on the PDP secretariat in Sokoto, introduced collectively executives from the state, zonal, and native authorities ranges.
Goronyo attributed the fiscal challenges to alleged lapses in governance underneath the present APC-led state authorities, warning that continued mismanagement might stall developmental efforts and disrupt important companies on the grassroots.
“There’s an pressing want for transparency and accountability in dealing with native authorities assets,” Goronyo acknowledged. “These councils are struggling financially, and this has direct penalties on the wellbeing of our individuals.”
He cited the rising infrastructure deficit in elements of the Sokoto metropolis — notably restricted entry to protected consuming water — as proof of poor prioritization by the state administration.
“Residents are grappling with each day challenges, and but there seems to be little urgency from these in energy,” he added. “It’s time to place the individuals first.”
Regardless of expressing dissatisfaction with the present state of affairs, Goronyo voiced confidence within the PDP’s means to reclaim the governorship within the 2027 elections.

He emphasised that the celebration is working to rebuild its reference to the voters by providing credible options and pragmatic options to native challenges.
“We consider the individuals of Sokoto State deserve high quality management and improved dwelling circumstances,” he stated. “The PDP stays centered on offering options that meet the wants of our communities.”
As political momentum builds forward of the 2027 polls, the PDP reiterated its intention to stay engaged with residents, advocate for good governance, and current what it calls a people-centered imaginative and prescient for Sokoto State.
