Nigerian actor and rapper Ikechukwu Onunaku has weighed in on the recent flooding across parts of Lagos, saying the situation is nothing new.
In a video shared online, the actor said he finds it surprising that many residents are reacting as though flooding in Lagos just started.
According to him, areas like Victoria Island have experienced flooding for decades, dating back to when he attended primary school.
Ikechukwu also recalled that parts of what are now developed areas were once covered by water before they were reclaimed through sand filling.
He argued that the city’s long-standing flooding problem has persisted due to poor regulation and planning, warning that the situation could become even worse if lasting solutions are not implemented.
