The candidate of the African Action Congress for Ondo West Constituency II in the 2027 Ondo State House of Assembly election, Akinsulere Akinshola, has pledged to provide transparent and accountable leadership if elected.
Akinshola, in a statement issued by his Campaign Media Office on Friday, expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for electing him as the AAC candidate for the forthcoming election.
He said, “I want to use this medium to express gratitude to party members and supporters for the confidence reposed in me by electing me as the candidate to represent the party in the forthcoming general election in 2027.”
The AAC candidate said the people of Ondo West deserved a new approach to governance centred on transparency, development and genuine public service.
According to him, his academic and professional background has prepared him for the responsibilities of public office.
“As a finance professional and entrepreneur, with a Bachelor of Science degree from Adekunle Ajasin University and a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Lagos, my academic and professional background has shaped my understanding of governance, public finance, and the role of effective legislation in promoting economic development,” he said.
Akinshola noted that residents of the constituency deserved quality representation that prioritises their welfare and aspirations.
“The people of Ondo West deserve more than political promises. Our people deserve representation that listens, leadership that is accountable, and legislation that directly improves their standard of living,” he stated.
He added that many citizens had become disconnected from government over the years and pledged to bridge the gap between the people and those in positions of authority.
“For too long, many citizens have felt disconnected from government. My mission is to bridge that gap and ensure that the voices of our people are represented where decisions are made,” he said.
The AAC flagbearer also called for a shift from what he described as the traditional style of politics, saying governance should focus on public welfare, economic opportunities and responsible leadership.
“We cannot continue to recycle the same style of politics while expecting different results. The time has come for a people-driven movement that prioritises public welfare, economic opportunities, and responsible governance,” he said.
Speaking on youth development, Akinshola described young people as valuable assets whose potential should be harnessed through supportive legislation and empowerment initiatives.
“Our youths are not liabilities; they are assets. We must enact laws and support initiatives that equip them with skills, opportunities, and an enabling environment where they can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.
He further promised to remain accessible and accountable to constituents if elected.
“Public office is a responsibility, not a privilege. If elected, I will remain accessible, transparent, and committed to the aspirations of the people of Ondo West,” he added.
Akinshola said his campaign slogan, “Our Future, My Priority,” reflected his commitment to effective representation and sustainable development in the constituency.
“This campaign is about the people of Ondo West. Together, we can build a constituency where opportunity, accountability, and development are not campaign promises but lived realities,” he said.
