The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, has announced plans to petition the United Nations Security Council over what he describes as threats against his life and concerns about the handling of the investigation into the murder of journalist Ahmed Suale.
In a social media post, Abronye questioned whether investigations into Ahmed Suale’s death had been compromised following comments by police that the case remains under investigation.
He also raised concerns about recent remarks made by former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, claiming the comments amounted to a threat against him.
According to Abronye, he intends to file a petition with the UN Security Council against both Ken Agyapong and the Ghana Police Service.
His reaction follows recent statements by Ken Agyapong on Net2 TV, where the former NPP presidential aspirant warned that some members of the NPP would “see action” from him beginning in June or July 2027.
Speaking on the programme, Agyapong said:
“It will not be long when you travel the way they respect you, then when you get here. Somebody like KOKA is saying my head has been operated on. He does not know what will happen to him.”
He continued:
“NPP people, are you ready? I am saying June, July 2027, me and you action in Ghana, you will be surprised, you think I am stupid.”
Agyapong also dismissed suggestions that he was speaking out because he was bitter about events within the party.
“The NPP says I am bitter. I will not say anything to them. They think it is about what they did during the campaign. They can’t shut me down,” he stated.
He further warned:
“NPP should be careful with me, saying I am bitter. If they provoke me, I will spill the beans all over the place.”
The comments have intensified tensions within the NPP, with several party figures publicly expressing concerns over recent exchanges among leading members.
As of now, the Ghana Police Service has not publicly responded to Abronye’s latest claims, and no formal petition to the UN Security Council has yet been announced.
