The Accord has concluded its governorship and state constituency primaries in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections, producing Mr. Fred Obi as its governorship candidate.
The party also elected candidates for various state constituencies, including Mr. Ejieh Paradise Godstime, who emerged as the Accord candidate for the Ndokwa West State Constituency seat.
Announcing the outcome of the primaries, the party’s Returning Officer, Mr. Felix Okei, said Obi polled 176 votes, securing the support of all accredited delegates as the sole aspirant in the governorship race.
Okei explained that candidates for the State House of Assembly seats emerged through a consensus arrangement, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and orderly.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the primaries in compliance with the Electoral Act.
Speaking after his emergence, Obi thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to lead Accord to victory in the 2027 governorship election.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its slogan of “peace and progress” and urged members to remain united and focused on advancing the party’s ideals.
According to him, Accord represents a fresh alternative for Delta State and is determined to reposition the state for greater development and prosperity.
“Accord stands for peace and progress, and we are committed to ensuring that Delta experiences genuine development.
Everyone has a role to play in rebuilding and repositioning the state for the benefit of all,” he said.
Obi also expressed optimism that the party would defeat its opponents in the forthcoming elections.
Meanwhile, the Accord candidate for Ndokwa West State Constituency, Mr. Ejieh Paradise Godstime, commended party supporters who gathered in Kwale for the primary election.
He promised to pursue people-oriented programmes and policies aimed at improving the welfare of constituents if elected into the Delta State House of Assembly in 2027.
