Governorship candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nigeria’s Northwest have unveiled a 10-point agenda they say will transform governance and improve living conditions across the region if elected.

The candidates are promising measures ranging from lower fuel costs and a ₦110,000 minimum wage to a regional security network, specialist hospitals and an emergency intervention in education.

They also propose a dedicated youth fund, expanded digital skills programmes, safer farming corridors and deeper economic integration among the seven Northwest states.

Under the agenda, the candidates promise to:

Lower Fuel Costs
Back a targeted fuel subsidy to reduce petrol prices, cut transport costs and ease pressure on household expenses.

₦110,000 Minimum Wage

Pay workers in ADC-led Northwest states a minimum wage of ₦110,000, with the aim of improving purchasing power and keeping wages in line with the cost of living.

Regional Security Network

Establish a technology-enabled security and rapid-response network covering all 21 senatorial districts to strengthen intelligence sharing, early warning and responses to threats across state borders.

21 Specialist Hospitals

Establish one specialist hospital in every senatorial district to bring quality healthcare closer to residents and reduce the need for long-distance travel for specialist treatment.

Education Emergency

Get more children into school, recruit and train teachers, and integrate Almajiri and Tsangaya education into the formal education system.

Safe Farming Corridors

Secure farming communities and rehabilitate irrigation infrastructure to allow farmers to return safely to their farms, boost food production and help reduce food prices.

Northwest Youth Fund

Create a dedicated regional fund to provide capital for young entrepreneurs and businesses, supporting enterprise growth and job creation.

Skills and Digital Jobs

Expand vocational training, digital hubs and skills programmes to equip young people with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship and the digital economy.

One Northwest Market

Deepen economic integration among the seven Northwest states through shared infrastructure, investment and easier trade, with the aim of expanding markets and attracting investment.

Quarterly Report Cards

Publish government performance reports every three months, enabling citizens to track promises, delivery and government performance.

The governorship candidates are promoting the agenda under the slogan #WeAreADC, presenting it as a blueprint for a different approach to governance in the Northwest.
