Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, a former Borno State governor and outstanding APC determine, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a weak alliance constructed on conflicting presidential ambitions.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, July 28, Sheriff mentioned the newly revived political motion lacked the construction or affect wanted to final.
“You said people are mentioning my name, that I was going to the ADC. Wrong. Which ADC? Do they have a political party?” he requested.
He continued, “Give them three months. The party will die down because all of them are ‘presidential materials’. And it is only one person that is going to be a presidential candidate among them.”
Sheriff was reacting to studies that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and others have been contemplating the ADC as a attainable platform for the 2027 elections.

But the previous senator argued that what’s taking place with the ADC can’t be in comparison with the formation of the APC, which he helped construct over a decade in the past.
“When we have been coming to kind the APC, there have been virtually 15 state governments concerned. President Bola Tinubu got here with 4 states. All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) got here with about 5 – 6. Breakaway PDP got here with 4.
“Today, we have 73 senators, a clear majority in the House of Reps, and more than 20 states,” he defined.
He described the ADC’s presidential hopefuls as missing a cohesive base or path.
“They all want to be president at all costs. They have a right to aspire, but as far as this politics is concerned, they don’t exist. ADC does not exist,” Sheriff said.
