The African Democratic Congress has clarified that newly elected state executives and other party officers will only assume office after their formal inauguration scheduled for May 12, 2026.

In a statement, the party stressed that the tenure of current executives remains valid until the expiration of their mandate and completion of the constitutional transition process.

It warned newly elected officials, particularly at the state level, to refrain from taking actions or making representations that could conflict with the party’s directive or create confusion within its structure.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to orderliness, discipline and strict adherence to its constitution and democratic processes.

The statement was signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the ADC.
