The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, CON, has warmly congratulated President Bola Tinubu, on the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Alausa, in statement by his Special Adviser on Communications and Media, Mr. Ikharo Attah, also commended the Oyo State Government and the nation’s security agencies for their collaborative efforts in securing the victims’ safe release.
The Minister described the operation as a remarkable demonstration of the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to the safety, security and wellbeing of every Nigerian child.
He expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his steadfast leadership and continued resolve in ensuring that no effort was spared until the victims regained their freedom.
Alausa also commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the Oyo State Government for their cooperation with the relevant security agencies, sustained support for the rescue efforts, and commitment to the welfare, rehabilitation and safe reintegration of the rescued pupils and teachers with their families.
The Minister further applauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force, and every security and intelligence agency that participated in the operation for their professionalism, courage, coordination and sacrifice, which led to the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers and the arrest of the perpetrators without harm to the victims.
“The successful rescue of these innocent children and their teachers is a moment of great relief for the nation. It reflects the determination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to protect the lives of Nigerians and demonstrates the growing effectiveness of collaboration among the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and our security agencies.
“On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, I congratulate Mr. President on this important achievement. I also commend the Oyo State Government for its support and commitment throughout this difficult period, and sincerely appreciate the bravery, patriotism and tireless efforts of all the security personnel whose dedication made this rescue possible. Their collective efforts have restored hope to the affected families and reassured Nigerians that our institutions remain resolute in confronting criminality,” he said.
The Minister expressed heartfelt sympathy to the pupils, teachers and their families for the emotional trauma they endured during their period in captivity, while praying for their speedy physical and psychological recovery.
Alausa reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to continue strengthening the safety and security of schools across the country, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He also urged communities, parents, school authorities and other stakeholders to continue supporting government’s efforts by remaining vigilant and cooperating with security agencies to ensure that schools remain safe environments where teaching and learning can thrive.
