The Labour Party, led by Senator Nenadi Usman, has demanded the arrest of Acting INEC Chairman, May Agbamuche-Mbu, alleging she conspired with Julius Abure in a transfer that undermines Nigeria’s democratic course of.
The demand was contained in an announcement titled, “INEC’s Acting Chair in Criminal Collusion with Julius Abure Over Fake Court Order – She Must Be Arrested,” signed by the occasion’s Interim National Spokesman, Toni Akeni, in Abuja on Thursday, October 23.
Akeni described Agbamuche-Mbu’s actions as “a blatant assault on the country’s democracy,” pointing to her determination to ask Abure to a gathering with leaders of 18 registered political events final Tuesday, regardless of an present Supreme Court ruling.
“In her defence, she claimed INEC was only following a court order and that the commission would comply if Senator Usman’s faction produced a valid judgment in their favour,” the assertion mentioned.

However, the Labour Party mentioned its investigation discovered no such courtroom order exists.
“Although Mr. Abure filed a suit against INEC in Suit No: CV/1914/2025 before Hon. Justice Kayode Agunloye of Court 40, FCT High Court, Gwagwalada, our request for a Certified True Copy of any order recognising him as chairman was denied by the court,” Akeni mentioned.
The occasion has challenged Agbamuche-Mbu to current the alleged courtroom order she cited, arguing her actions had been reckless and violated constitutional processes.
Akeni insisted that Abure’s recognition as chairman lacks authorized backing and accused the appearing INEC boss of undermining the integrity of the electoral fee.
