National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, has described Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State as “one of the most transparent and well-organised in the state’s history”.
Ezeokenwa made the comment in Awka on Sunday, November 9, throughout an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria whereas reacting to the victory of Governor Chukwuma Soludo on the simply concluded ballot.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Soludo the winner of the November 8 election.
The Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Edogah Omoregie, introduced in Awka that Soludo of APGA polled 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes.

According to Ezeokenwa, the election was a transparent demonstration of INEC’s rising capability to ship credible polls.
“INEC deserves commendation for ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process,” he stated.
He additionally praised residents of the state for sustaining peace and order throughout the train, describing their conduct as exemplary.
“I thank residents for their exemplary behaviour and for maintaining peace before, during and after the polls. I also commend the media for their professionalism in reporting the process,” he added.
