Major world summits
NATO summits provide a platform for allied leaders to discuss key security challenges and set the Alliance’s strategic direction. Türkiye, in its capacity as a key NATO member, has hosted pivotal bloc summits, including one in Istanbul in 2004.
The Ankara meeting will follow the 2025 summit in The Hague and is expected to focus on collective security, defence spending and global strategic challenges.
Later this year, Ankara will also host the 13th summit of the Organization of Turkic States, which brings together Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, alongside observer members and states.
The bloc was established in 2009 to deepen cooperation among Turkic states across the areas including trade, transport, energy, culture and security.
Its most recent formal summit was held in Gabala, Azerbaijan, in October 2025, while an informal leaders’ meeting in Kazakhstan last month focused on artificial intelligence and digital development.
