A landslide has killed two people after a refuse dump collapsed onto a building at Ikot Effanga along Old Odukpani Road in Calabar, Cross River State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, with police personnel responding to the scene.

The collapsed refuse reportedly swept onto a building constructed in a valley, killing two occupants.

The deceased were identified as Nfon Imé and an unidentified woman.

Their remains were recovered and deposited at the mortuary.

The Cross River State Police Command said it was assessing the circumstances surrounding the incident, while investigation was ongoing.

The Command urged residents to remain calm and avoid speculation as authorities work to establish the full circumstances of the tragedy.
