Another Nigerian pilgrim from Nasarawa State, Hajiya Rukayya Haliru, has died in the Holy City of Makkah.
SolaceBase reports that Mallama Aishatu Muhammadu, a 73-year-old from Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, died in Madinah on Saturday.
The Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Idris Ahmad Almakura, confirmed the death on Wednesday to newsmen in Makkah.
Almakura said the late Hajiya Rukayya Haliru, who hailed from Keffi local government, was aged 70.
He said the deceased complained of illness and despite medical efforts, she drew her last breath this morning.

The Board Executive Secretary, alongside other officials and family members of the deceased, were present at the hospital to oversee the preparation and movement of her remains to the Grand Mosque in Makkah for the performance of the Janazah (funeral) prayer, a solemn Islamic rite for the deceased.
He also advised other pilgrims to prioritize their health and report any symptoms early to the medical teams attached to the board.
The Executive Secretary extended the board’s condolences to the Nasarawa State government, the immediate family of Hajiya Rukayya Haliru, and the entire staff and management of the pilgrims’ welfare board.
In an interview, Abdulwab Aboki, one of the relatives of the deceased who also witnessed the entire process, expressed the family’s appreciation to the board for its support and transparency throughout the difficult process.
