The Kogi State Police Command has launched an investigation into an armed attack along the Itobe–Ochadamu Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area, which left a divisional APC Chairman in Dekina Local Government Area, Ishaq Yunusa, dead and another person abducted.
Police say the attack occurred around Ojuwo Olijo at about 5 p.m. on Thursday, when armed assailants emerged from the surrounding bush and shot indiscriminately at motorists.
A blue Toyota Corolla was later found abandoned along the highway, with the driver, identified as Ishaq Yunusa, found dead inside the vehicle.
Another occupant was reportedly taken into the surrounding bush by the attackers.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Afusat, says security operatives are combing the forest to rescue the abducted victim and track down those responsible.
The body of the deceased has been evacuated to Grimard Hospital in Anyigba for an autopsy.
Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, has ordered sustained security operations along the affected corridor and directed efforts to bring the attackers to justice.
The Police Command has also urged motorists and residents along the route to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
