The Rivers State House of Assembly Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified Chijoke Ihunwo, Victor Oko-Jumbo and Sokari Goodboy who are key loyalists of Governor Siminalyi Fubara from participation in the primary election.
The three aspirants were among aspirants loyalists of Fubara and the party’s 2023 Rivers governorship candidate, Tonye Cole disqualified from taking part in the primary election
They were disqualified by the APC Screening Committee chaired by Muraine Ajibola, according to a report by The Nation newspaper.
According to reports, the Committee cleared only 33 aspirants out of the 98 persons that participated in the screening that held from May 9th to 10th.
The Committee said in its report that the disqualified aspirants did not meet the requirements of the screening exercise.
The report, dated May 10 was signed by Ajibola; the committee’s Secretary, Ishake Yamawe and a member, Danjuma Samuel.
It was gathered that that 33 of the aspirants cleared for the primary were all loyalists of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike
This means they will be standing for the APC primary election unopposed.
A report of the Committee was posted Monday morning by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka.
The Committee listed “Nominations by persons who are not financially up to date members of the Party, contrary to Article 9.3 of the Party Constitution, inducement and attempted bribery of Committee members, submission of unsworn affidavits, failure to present voters cards, failure to present Party membership slips or cards, conflicting dates of birth, failure to confirm payment of membership dues by nominators, irregular party membership numbers of nominators, inconsistencies in names appearing in submitted documents, insufficient nominators with required numbers which fall short of three nominations per ward, invalid affidavits that failed to disclose material particulars relating to NECO certificates among the reasons for the disqualification of the aspirants
