The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has dismissed claims of being linked with the abduction of the sister of the former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu and her twins.
Naijaonpoint reports that Adelabu’s sister and her sons were kidnapped earlier last week, but were rescued Saturday night following the raid of a township apartment by the police after a tip-off.
However, rumours surfaced in the early hours of Sunday, linking the abduction incident to the APC gubernatorial candidate.
But Alli denied the allegation in a statement issued on Sunday in Ibadan.
He described the rumour as false and deceptive, lamenting that it was an attempt to discredit him.
Alli urged members of the public to disregard the rumours totally and called on security agencies to unravel the circumstances that led to the abduction.
He also demanded an investigation into the source of the rumour.
Alli said, “We categorically describe the publication as irresponsible, defamatory, politically motivated and completely devoid of credibility.
“We urge members of the public to disregard the publication in its entirety and avoid spreading falsehoods capable of undermining ongoing security investigations or causing unnecessary political tension.”
