The Osun State government has declared that the purported appointment of Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Eniba, as the caretaker Chairman of the state National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is null and void and of no effect.
The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, in a statement on Friday, rejected the purported appointment of a caretaker committee for Osun NURTW, describing it as illegal while restating its earlier statement that Nurudeen Alowonle remains the Chairman of Osun NURTW.
NAIJAONPOINT reports that the national leadership of the NURTW, earlier on Friday, inaugurated a seven-member caretaker committee to oversee its affairs in the state with Oyewale chairing the committee.

But Alimi, in the statement, declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke did not at any point remove the NURTW leadership and submitted that the tenure of Alowonle’s executive is yet to lapse and that attempting to impose him as state chairman is an affront on the law.
“The Osun State government declared again that Comrade Nurudeen Alowonle and his executive across the local government remain the substantive leadership of Osun NURTW, clarifying that the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, did not at any time dissolve the union leadership nor remove any duly appointed officers of the union,” the statement noted.
The government affirmed that Alowonle and his executive were appointed by the national leadership of the NURTW under Comrade MC Oluomo in line with the regulations and guidelines of the national union, submitting that “there is no vacuum in the leadership of the union.”
“The State Government is again using this medium to clarify that, at no time did the State Government dissolve the Executives of the NURTW at all levels; what the security council directive is all about is to suspend all activities of the union in all our parks pending the restoration of peace in all the parks.
“The Governor stated yesterday that the parks are not closed and should not be closed,” the statement added.
