BBNaija Season 11 housemate Temi Nkem has sparked conversations online after expressing frustration when fellow contestants struggled to understand her while she read Big Brother’s weekly instructions.
The incident occurred on the opening day of the “Show Ya Sef” edition after Big Brother directed one housemate to visit the diary room, collect the week’s guidelines and relay them to the rest of the house.
Temi Nkem, who reportedly received her education in the United Kingdom, volunteered for the task and returned to brief the other housemates.
However, several contestants appeared confused by her pronunciation and grammar, prompting repeated requests for clarification.
Confusion over instructions sparks tense moment
As the confusion continued, the atmosphere in the house became tense, with raised voices as some housemates tried to understand the instructions.
Visibly frustrated, Temi Nkem said, “Are you children that you don’t understand English? How is it possible that you don’t understand English?”
Her remark quickly became one of the first talking points of the new season, drawing attention to the different accents and communication styles among the contestants.
Social media users react
The exchange has since generated mixed reactions across social media, with many viewers debating whether the misunderstanding resulted from Temi Nkem’s British accent, her delivery, or the pressure of the moment.
While some defended the housemates, arguing that different accents can sometimes make communication difficult, others supported Temi, saying English should have been understood regardless of pronunciation.
BBNaija Season 11 premiered on Sunday with 24 housemates competing for the grand prize of ₦160 million.
