The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, has approved the redeployment of senior officers to key command, operational and staff positions across the Nigerian Army.
The Army said the postings were aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and repositioning its leadership structure to respond to emerging security challenges.
Under the new arrangement, Maj Gen I.A. Ajose moves from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Operations to the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, as Theatre Commander.
He replaces Maj Gen A.E. Abubakar, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Dean, Faculty of Operational Research.
Maj Gen R.T. Utsaha, formerly of the Department of Army Standards and Evaluation, becomes Commander of the Defence Headquarters Garrison, while Maj Gen A.M. Alechenu moves from the DHQ Garrison to the Heritage and Future Centre.
The Army spokesperson, Appolonia Anele, said the postings were designed to place officers with relevant experience in critical operational and strategic positions.
Other appointments include Maj Gen A.M. Umar, who becomes Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria, while Maj Gen U.M. Alkali moves to the Department of Civil-Military Affairs.
Maj Gen G.S. Muhammed has been appointed Director-General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation, while Maj Gen J.E. Osifo moves from the corporation to chair the Military Pension Board.
At the operational level, Brig Gen M.S. Adamu becomes Commander of the newly established 8 Brigade, while Brig Gen M.S. Sule takes command of 27 Task Force Brigade.
Brig Gen I. Sule becomes Commander of the 6 Division Garrison, while Brig Gen E. Azenda takes over as Commander of the 2 Division Garrison.
The Army said the Chief of Army Staff charged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate professionalism, innovation and commitment in their new assignments.
Shaibu also urged them to remain focused on the Army’s constitutional responsibility of defending Nigeria’s sovereignty, protecting its territorial integrity and supporting civil authorities in maintaining peace and security.
