The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has issued a 60-day notice for the conduct of local government council elections scheduled for August 17, 2026.
The notice was contained in a statement released by the Secretary of the commission, Nuru Abdulhamid, on Friday in Bauchi.
He said the notice is issued in compliance with the provisions of the Bauchi State Electoral Law, which requires the commission to notify political parties, stakeholders and the general public in advance of elections.
Abdulhamid recalled that the commission had previously issued a 360-day notice in August 2025, in line with legal obligations, allowing political parties and other stakeholders sufficient time to prepare for the electoral process.
He advised political parties intending to participate in the election to complete their internal preparations and ensure full compliance with the Electoral Law and the commission’s guidelines.
He stated that detailed timelines, procedures and other relevant information regarding the elections would be released in due course.
The secretary reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, transparent and credible elections.
