Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr Aondona Dajo, on Wednesday joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) race for Gboko West (Gbemacha) State Constituency.
Dajoh picked the PDP nomination and expression of interest forms at the party’s secretariat in Makurdi.
The former speaker, who recently resigned from his position as the speaker of the 10th assembly, is facing a series of suspensions and political challenges from the current leadership of the assembly.
Dajoh, who initially contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), withdrew from APC primaries and pitched his tent with the PDP.
His purchase of forms was supervised by the Benue State PDP Chairman, Mr Ezekiel Adaji, who conducted the screening exercise and subsequently cleared Dajoh to participate in the party’s forthcoming primaries.
Speaking shortly after the screening exercise, Adaji expressed confidence in the PDP’s internal democratic process and assured aspirants of a level playing ground during the primaries.
In his remarks, Dajoh appreciated party leaders and supporters for their encouragement and support and expressed readiness to complete all processes leading to the primaries.
The former speaker commended his constituents for their dogged support during his travails.
He promised not to disappoint them if given another opportunity to represent them again. (NAN) www.nannews.ng
