Pakistan is facing fresh security challenges as the Balochistan region continues to witness unrest and violence. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed that its fighters carried out 48 attacks across Balochistan between July 1 and July 14, killing more than 40 Pakistani soldiers.
However, these claims have not been independently verified. The Pakistan government and its military have not officially confirmed the figures or provided a detailed response to the allegations made by the BLA.
The claims come amid growing tensions in Balochistan, where separatist groups have been demanding greater rights and, in some cases, independence from Pakistan. The region has remained a major security challenge for Islamabad due to decades of conflict between the government and militant organisations.
What did BLA claim about attacks on Pakistan Army?
According to the Baloch Liberation Army, its fighters targeted Pakistani security forces and infrastructure in several parts of Balochistan during the first two weeks of July.
The group claimed that on July 1, an army supply vehicle was attacked in the Dasht area of Mastung, killing two soldiers. It also claimed attacks on cargo vehicles in Noshki and Panjgur on the same day.
BLA further claimed that on July 3, an IED blast targeted a military vehicle in Noshki’s Zarin Jungle area, killing two soldiers. It also alleged that an attack in Mastung damaged a bridge on the Sibi Road.
The organisation said it carried out operations in areas including Harnai, Ziarat, Kech, Khuzdar, Surab, Kalat, Washuk, Panjgur and Kharan.
Did BLA launch its biggest operation against Pakistan forces?
BLA claimed that one of its biggest attacks took place on July 7 in the Harnai-Ziarat region. According to the group, three soldiers were killed in an initial attack, while more than seven others died in a later ambush.
The organisation also claimed responsibility for attacks on military camps, checkpoints, highways and bridges. It said it damaged key infrastructure and temporarily took control of some areas during its operations.
BLA also admitted that three of its fighters were killed during these clashes.
