According to a video posted on TVC News on Thursday July 23, 2026, security analyst Tony Ofoyetan called on Nigeria’s Department of State Services to adopt the use of implanted tracking chips on captured top-level terrorist leaders.
Ofoyetan made the recommendation while outlining what he described as necessary next steps for Nigeria’s security agencies following international commendation of the country’s counterterrorism progress. Watch Video Here ➜
Ofoyetan said Nigeria’s security agencies should study and apply methods already used by leading global intelligence agencies such as the FBI and Mossad, particularly when dealing with high-value terrorist suspects.
He said tracking technology of this kind would allow authorities to monitor the movements of dangerous individuals long after their capture.
In his words, Tony Ofoyetan said, “What I expect is that when you apprehend a terrorist, apply technology.
“The DSS, they know what to do, FBI, Mossad and the like, they know what we’re talking about.
“See, some of these people, especially those that are the top, you can plant chips in their body, and once you plant chips in their body, wherever they go they become trackable.”
Ofoyetan said adopting such technology, even if it means acquiring it from other countries, is necessary given the scale of the security bar that has now been raised by international recognition.
He said Nigeria’s security agencies must be intentional about deploying every available tool, since high-value terrorist suspects require monitoring that goes beyond conventional detention methods.
