Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a fresh warning to the United States as tensions remain high following large-scale U.S. and Israeli airstrikes.
A senior IRGC commander, General Ebrahim Jabbari, said Iran will soon unveil weapons “you have never seen before,” insisting the country is prepared for a conflict with Washington that could last for years.
In a statement released on Sunday by Middle East Monitor, Jabbari said Iran has significantly strengthened its military capabilities in recent years and claimed the country possesses advanced weapons systems unfamiliar to its adversaries. Watch video here
Although he did not reveal details about the new weapons, he said Iran’s ability to defend its territory and strategic interests has improved considerably, enabling it to withstand a prolonged military confrontation.
His comments come as the United States and Israel continue military operations against Iran after President Donald Trump announced what he described as major combat missions targeting Iranian facilities, citing concerns over Tehran’s missile and nuclear programmes.
Trump has vowed to weaken Iran’s missile capabilities and prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons, while also urging Iranian security forces to avoid further escalation.
Jabbari also warned that Iran’s armed forces are ready for a long-term confrontation, saying the country’s military is prepared to endure an extended conflict and respond strongly to any attack.
