Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa to sign England international Morgan Rogers after the attacking midfielder opted to join the Blues ahead of Arsenal.
According to reports from The Athletic, Chelsea had a £117 million bid accepted by Aston Villa, with both clubs now finalising the structural details of the agreement.
Personal terms have already been completed, with the 23-year-old set to sign a six-year contract running until 2032, with the option of a further year.
Rogers is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Monday before completing the transfer.
The England international is currently in the United States after representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where England were eliminated by Argentina in the semi-finals.
Arsenal had also been pursuing Rogers during the summer transfer window, but the midfielder ultimately chose Stamford Bridge as his preferred destination.
The decision followed Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso’s intervention, with the Spaniard presenting the club’s sporting project to the player before convincing him to move to west London instead of the Emirates Stadium.
The move will also reunite Rogers with his former Manchester City academy teammate, Cole Palmer, at Chelsea.
Once completed, the transfer will strengthen Chelsea’s attacking options as the club continues its squad rebuild under Alonso ahead of the new season.
