Nwaokobia reflected on his long-standing familiarity with President Tinubu, recalling their interactions during Nigeria’s democratic struggles and the president’s early years in public office. He argued that leadership ultimately depends on the willingness of those in power to make decisions that directly improve the lives of citizens.
Speaking during the interview, Nwaokobia stated, “I’ve known BAT since his first term as governor; If he wants Nigeria to work, he can make It work.” He made the remark while discussing what he believes is the president’s capacity to address the nation’s pressing challenges.
According to him, Nigeria’s difficulties are not beyond resolution if government demonstrates commitment to responsive governance and effective policymaking. He argued that the country possesses the resources and human capital needed to achieve meaningful progress.
The lawyer further maintained that leadership should be measured by its ability to improve security, reduce poverty, and create opportunities for citizens. He stressed that ordinary Nigerians are more concerned about practical outcomes than political rhetoric or official statistics.
Nwaokobia also suggested that the president should surround himself with advisers who understand the realities facing citizens and are willing to provide honest feedback on government policies. He argued that listening to diverse perspectives could help strengthen decision-making and improve governance outcomes.
