In a recent interview on Trust TV on Friday, June 19, 2026, Idris Kalgo, a political ally of former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, spoke about leadership choices within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), internal consensus-building, and the party’s positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections. He discussed Amaechi’s standing among party stakeholders and the broader opposition coalition.
During the interview, Kalgo addressed ongoing debates within the ADC regarding who should emerge as the party’s standard-bearer in the next presidential election. He argued that support for Amaechi has continued to grow due to his experience, political structure, and national reach.
