Buhari’s Son Yusuf Officially Declares House of Reps Bid on APC Platform

Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Thursday in Daura, Katsina State.

Yusuf said he will run for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His declaration comes shortly after a meeting with Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda. The visit, which took place on Wednesday, was aimed at seeking political backing and consultation ahead of his ambition.

Addressing party leaders, supporters, and community stakeholders, Yusuf made a direct appeal for support. He assured the gathering of his commitment to effective representation if elected.

“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing. I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support,” he said.

The event drew the presence of several notable figures within the constituency. Among them was a former lawmaker, Fatuhu Muhammad, who represented the area in the past. Family members and political allies also attended.

Community leaders used the opportunity to openly canvass support for Yusuf’s bid. Speaking at the gathering, the Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkol, Alhaji Musa Haro, urged residents to rally behind him.

He stressed the need for unity among stakeholders and revealed plans to engage voters across towns and villages in the constituency. He also hinted at possible collaboration with other aspirants contesting for the same position.

“We are here to ask for your support for our brother. We will go to the people in every town and village to seek their support. We will also reach out to other aspirants contesting the same seat to collaborate with them and seek their support.

“Even the current member, Hon. Aminu Jamo, did his best. We know how politics is — nobody can do 100 per cent,” Haro said.

The Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat is currently held by Aminu Jamo, who has represented the area in the National Assembly.
