Bayero University Kano (BUK) has announced the commencement of its online screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into its undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to a statement signed by the university’s Registrar, Haruna Aliyu, on behalf of the institution, the online screening exercise will begin on June 19, 2026, and end on August 16, 2026, for candidates who selected BUK as their first-choice institution in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The university stated that only candidates who chose BUK as their first choice and attained the prescribed minimum UTME scores for their respective programmes are eligible to participate in the screening exercise.
SolaceBase reports that among the most competitive programmes, Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) has the highest cut-off mark of 250, followed by Dentistry and Doctor of Pharmacy, which require a minimum score of 220.

Nursing applicants must score at least 210, while candidates seeking admission into Medical Laboratory Science, Software Engineering, and Law must obtain a minimum of 200.
Other programmes such as Computer Science, Cyber Security, Architecture, Physiotherapy, Radiography, and Optometry have a cut-off mark of 190, while Mass Communication and Pharmacology require 180. Several science, arts, education, agriculture, and social science programmes have a minimum cut-off mark of 160.
BUK directed eligible candidates to complete the screening process through its online portal using their UTME registration numbers and aggregate scores. Applicants are also required to pay a screening fee of N2,000 through the university’s designated payment platform.

The university further advised candidates to upload their O’Level results to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), noting that only candidates whose results are uploaded would be considered for admission.
BUK warned that the submission of false information would lead to disqualification and stressed that candidates who fail to register within the stipulated period would not be considered for admission.
