The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has cautioned applicants to ignore a fake announcement claiming that a portal for checking recruitment status will open on Monday, August 3.

The board issued the warning in a post on its official X account on Sunday, describing the circulating notice as false and misleading.

To further alert applicants, CDCFIB shared the document online with a bold red “FAKE” watermark across it, making it clear that it did not originate from the board.

The forged statement alleged that candidates who recently participated in the medical screening exercise would be able to verify their recruitment status through the official recruitment portal from August 3.

It also falsely claimed that successful applicants would proceed to the next stages of the recruitment process, including fitness assessments and oral interviews.

The fake document was dated August 1, 2026, and carried an electronic signature purportedly belonging to the Secretary of the Board, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.).

Dismissing the notice, the board urged applicants to disregard the misinformation and rely solely on updates released through its verified communication channels.

The warning comes as the CDCFIB continues the 2025 recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS) and Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).

Thousands of applicants across the country have already participated in the physical and medical screening stages of the recruitment exercise, with the medical screening conducted on June 22, 2026.

The board noted that it has not announced any date for the next phase of the recruitment process and advised candidates to be wary of fraudulent messages and unofficial announcements.
