The Labour Party has disowned a press release by its former Ogun State chairman, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, alleging that plans have been underway to expel the celebration’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his involvement in a newly shaped political coalition.
Arabambi had claimed throughout a press convention in Abeokuta that the celebration management was plotting to take away Obi for aligning with a coalition reportedly spearheaded by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), involving key political figures together with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, former Inside Minister Rauf Aregbesola, and ex-Lawyer Common Abubakar Malami, amongst others. The coalition is alleged to be strategizing to unseat President Bola Tinubu within the 2027 normal elections.
Nonetheless, in a swift response over the weekend, the Labour Party’s Nationwide Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, dismissed Arabambi’s assertion as false and missing legitimacy.
“That assertion is just not from the Labour Party. We aren’t expelling anybody. We’re working an inclusive management within the Labour Party,” Ifoh stated.
He pressured that Arabambi, who was reportedly faraway from his place as Performing Nationwide Publicity Secretary in 2023, has no authority to talk on behalf of the celebration’s nationwide management.

“There isn’t a such plan on the nationwide stage to expel Mr. Peter Obi. The assertion by Arabambi is fully his private opinion and doesn’t symbolize the place of the Labour Party,” Ifoh clarified.
He additional reiterated that the celebration stays centered on constructing a broad-based, inclusive political motion able to rescuing Nigerians from the present {economic} hardship below the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ifoh warned that any try to isolate or take away Obi would contradict the Labour Party’s dedication to inclusiveness and inner democracy.
