The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed today for judgment in a suit filed by members of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, seeking recognition of the factional interim National Working Committee of the party led by Kabiru Turaki, SAN.
The judgment, to be delivered by Justice Salim Ibrahim, is scheduled for 4 p.m., according to notices issued to parties in the matter.
The court had, on July 7, 2026, reserved judgment after lawyers to the parties adopted their final submissions. Justice Ibrahim had said a date for judgment would be communicated to the parties.
In the suit, members of the PDP BoT are asking the court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise the Turaki-led interim NWC on its official website.
They are also seeking an order directing INEC to update its records and publish on its website the names of the interim NWC members allegedly forwarded to it by the plaintiffs and the party’s National Executive Committee.
According to the plaintiffs, the names of members of the Kabiru Turaki-led NWC were forwarded to INEC through a letter dated May 4, 2026.
INEC is listed as the sole defendant in the suit.
However, the faction of the PDP loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has challenged the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the matter.
At the last sitting on July 7, the court heard an application filed by members of the Wike-backed PDP executive, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, seeking to be joined as parties in the suit.
The court also heard a separate application filed by a former Imo State PDP Chairman, Austin Nwachukwu, and two other party chieftains, Abraham Amah and George Turner, who equally sought to be joined in the case.
The applicants also asked the court to dismiss the suit.
The judgment is expected to determine whether the court will grant the reliefs sought by the Wabara-led BoT members or uphold the objections raised by the rival PDP faction and other interested party chieftains.
