The Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force have agreed to strengthen their security collaboration in Delta State as part of broader efforts to tackle crime in the region.
The agreement followed a courtesy visit by the Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Edo/Delta Command, Controller Judith Kanu, to the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, at the police headquarters in Asaba on Thursday.
Reports gathered online indicate that the meeting centered on reinforcing institutional partnerships, enhancing proactive policing, and improving security coordination across the state.
A statement issued by the Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the visit was aimed at strengthening existing cooperation between both agencies in the areas of intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and law enforcement across Edo and Delta States.
The Customs Area Controller described the engagement as a valuable opportunity to deepen inter-agency collaboration, adding that when security agencies work in alignment, they become significantly more effective in their duties while sending a strong signal to criminals that law enforcement remains a united front.
The Commissioner of Police welcomed the delegation warmly and reaffirmed the command’s dedication to maintaining a strong and cordial working relationship with the Customs Service.
He described the collaboration between both agencies as non-negotiable, emphasizing that they complement each other in the shared mission of ensuring public safety and national security.
