Member representing Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mansur Manu-Soro, has announced that he will not seek re-election in the 2027 general election.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by his aide, Safiyanu Ibrahim Darazo, informing constituents of the lawmaker’s decision to step aside from the race.
Mr Soro expressed gratitude to the people of Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, for the support and opportunity extended to him during the 2023 general election.
He described the opportunity to represent the constituency as a rare privilege and appreciated the confidence reposed in him by the people.
The lawmaker assured constituents that he would continue to focus on delivering on his mandate and supporting the development of the constituency through projects in education, healthcare and other critical sectors.
Among the projects highlighted were the Gifted Schools in Sade, Soro, Darazo and Kafin Madaki, the Special Primary School in Lanzai, and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) study centre in Soro.
Others include the Nana Kashim Shettima Pediatric Hospital in Sade, Aisha Bala Mohammed Pediatric Hospital in Soro, Hadiza M.A. Abubakar Pediatric Hospital in Gabarin, and Maryam Uwais Pediatric Hospital in Miya.
The statement added that Mr Soro would remain active in politics and continue contributing to the growth and development of Bauchi State and Nigeria.
“MMS prays to Almighty Allah to continue to bless Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole,” the statement said.
Mr Soro had on May 1, 2026, resigned from the PDP, citing persistent internal crisis within the party.
In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Ganjuwa Ward, Ganjuwa Local Government Area, the lawmaker attributed his exit to deepening divisions and unresolved conflicts in the party.
He currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises.
