Cape Verde’s resistance was anchored by veteran goalkeeper Vozinha, who delivered a standout performance at 40 years old.
The shot-stopper made a series of key saves to deny Spain’s attacking options and kept his side level during sustained periods of pressure.
Spain dominated possession but lacked cutting edge in the final third. Their best opportunity in the first half came when Ferran Torres struck the crossbar from close range after a knockdown from Marc Cucurella.
