A woman has sparked reactions online after revealing that she married a man she was never attracted to because she felt age was no longer on her side.
In a viral video, she said she was 33 when she decided to marry her husband because she wanted to settle down, while many of her peers were already married.
‘He was never my spec’
The woman said she had been with the man for some time before their marriage but never developed feelings for him.
She described herself as an educated and beautiful woman with a particular preference for the type of man she wanted.
She said her husband is a plumber, dark-skinned and of average height, adding that he did not possess the physical qualities she desired.
“I married a man that I wasn’t attracted to because age was not on my side. And now I’m beginning to regret everything.”
According to her, she initially treated the relationship as temporary while hoping someone she preferred would come along.
“Let me just use him to pass time. If someone better comes, I will go for that person. But nobody came.”
She said the other men she met were not serious about marriage, while her current husband eventually proposed.
Although she accepted his proposal, she admitted that she knew she did not truly love him.
“Although deep down I knew that I didn’t really love him. But because I was already 33 years old and my mates were already married, I decided to marry him.”
She struggles with intimacy
The woman said her feelings became more difficult to ignore after they started living together as husband and wife.
She claimed that she sometimes becomes irritated when her husband tries to get physically close to her.
“Sometimes I sit down and I just look at this man and I don’t find him attractive.”
She also said she avoids intimacy and has made excuses to prevent her husband from getting too close to her.
According to her, she does not want to become pregnant for him because she is still not attracted to him.
‘I am not proud to be seen with this man’
Beyond his appearance, the woman complained about her husband’s dressing, mannerisms and social circle.
She said she had tried to improve his dressing but claimed he always returned to what she described as a haggard style.
She also admitted avoiding social events because she does not want to be seen with him.
“Sometimes I intentionally don’t go out to ceremonies, invite us to go for a wedding or an event. I don’t go out.”
“I always find one excuse because I am not proud to be seen with this man.”
The woman said her husband is a good and caring man who takes care of her, but she does not believe she can develop genuine feelings for him.
She considers having another man’s child
The most controversial part of her confession was her admission that she had considered becoming pregnant for another man and passing the child off as her husband’s.
“I’m thinking that maybe I should go and get pregnant for someone else that is my spec and pin it on him.”
She said the thought made her realise how deeply unhappy she had become in the marriage.
“That’s just what makes me realise that I don’t love this man. And I don’t think I’m ever going to love him.”
She appealed to social media users for advice on whether she should continue pretending and hope her feelings eventually change or leave the marriage.
“Should I keep on pretending? Should I keep on forcing myself? Maybe I’m going to eventually love him or should I just walk away?”
The woman added that her husband is unaware of her true feelings because she continues to laugh and interact normally with him.
“I pretend, I laugh and I play with him. But deep down, I’m irritated by him.”
Her confession has since generated mixed reactions online, with many debating whether she should be honest with her husband and reconsider the future of the marriage.
