Kano state Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has congratulated the people of Kano State on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day, describing the celebration as a testament to the resilience of democratic governance and the enduring commitment of Nigerians to freedom, justice and development.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Friday.

Governor Yusuf said Democracy Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s democratic journey and renew commitment to the ideals of accountability, transparency and service to the people.
The governor noted that over the last three years, his administration has remained focused on delivering the dividends of democracy through policies and programmes designed to improve the living conditions of the people of Kano State.
He said the declaration of a State of emergency in education has resulted in significant investments in school infrastructure, recruitment of qualified teachers, provision of teaching and learning materials, payment of examination fees and the sponsorship of students for higher education within and outside the country.
According to the governor, the administration has also recorded notable achievements in the health sector through the renovation and upgrading of health facilities, recruitment of healthcare personnel and expansion of access to quality healthcare services.
Governor Yusuf further highlighted the construction and rehabilitation of roads across the state, improvements in water supply, support for agricultural development, youth and women empowerment programmes, and social intervention initiatives targeted at vulnerable members of sosociety.

He stated that the government has continued to create opportunities for economic growth through policies that support businesses, encourage investments and promote job creation.
The governor expressed appreciation to the people of Kano State for their support, cooperation and prayers, assuring them that his administration remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises and responding to the needs and aspirations of the people.
He called on residents to continue promoting peace, unity, tolerance and respect for democratic institutions, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in a peaceful and stable environment.
Governor Yusuf prayed for continued peace, prosperity and progress in Kano State and Nigeria, while wishing all citizens a memorable Democracy Day celebration.
