The Kano State Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Dahir M. Hashim, has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what he described as the administration’s commitment to youth inclusion in governance.
In a Democracy Day statement signed on Friday, Hashim praised the governor for creating opportunities for young people to participate in public service and contribute meaningfully to governance, saying the approach was helping to strengthen both the future of Kano State and Nigeria’s democracy.
The commissioner said the inclusion of young people in leadership positions was critical to sustainable development and democratic growth.
“I commend His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unwavering commitment to youth inclusion in governance,” he said.

According to him, providing opportunities for young people to serve and contribute to public life enables them to realise their potential and make meaningful contributions to society.
“No matter how talented, committed, or innovative a young person may be, their potential can only be fully realized when they are given the platform to lead and serve,” Hashim stated.
Reflecting on the significance of Democracy Day, the commissioner noted that nation-building is a gradual process that requires patience, sacrifice and collective commitment from citizens.
He acknowledged that Nigeria faces numerous challenges but expressed optimism that they could be overcome through visionary leadership and the determination of the people.
Drawing a comparison with Singapore’s development journey, Hashim said there was a time when many doubted the country’s prospects for success, yet it emerged as one of the world’s most prosperous nations through effective leadership and the commitment of its citizens.
He said Nigeria could achieve similar progress if citizens remained hopeful and united in pursuing national development goals.
“That same spirit of hope, responsibility, and shared commitment must continue to guide us as we work together to build the Nigeria of our dreams,” he added.
Hashim also congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day and urged citizens to remain committed to the ideals of democratic governance and national development.
